Bank Holiday cooking
Well, aren’t we spoilt at this time of year! Yet another Bank Holiday is on the horizon. And at Mudd and Co, we think it’s the perfect time to get into the kitchen and spend quality time together, rustling up your all-time favourite family recipes or trying out something new.
If work, exams, school and general life are causing a lot of stress lately in your house, then now is the perfect time to get into the kitchen and get creative. Cooking is a great de-stresser because it serves as a creative outlet. And while stress can numb your senses, cooking activates them. It’s a sensory experience with aromas, colourful sights, different textures, sizzling sounds and, of course, delicious tastes.
Get everyone involved: Whether it’s simply baking a delicious cake, decorating pizzas or peeling spuds, bring the whole family together with an easy recipe everyone can get involved with.
Don’t go overboard: If you are expecting visitors over the Bank Holiday, there’s no need to go overboard! Stock the fridge with simple nibbles, dips, cheese and treats you can easily put out onto the dining table, then sit back and relax during the well deserved long weekend.
Try something new: Of course, if you do have some time to spare, it’s the best time to get creative in the kitchen! Fancy becoming the best cheesecake creator in your family? Or always been curious about that Nigella Lawson Coca Cola Ham (it’s amazing, by the way!)? Be sure to keep your diary free one afternoon over the weekend to do something a little different in your kitchen. You never know, it may just become a firm family favourite for many Bank Holiday weekends to come!
There really is nothing quite like spending quality time at home during the Bank Holiday. Leave the DIY, skip pushing and shoving through the shops… Pop on your slippers, put the kettle on and enjoy some much needed time pottering around your kitchen at home.
